VM family comes to visit us

We were so happy to have Dad, Mom and Derek come to visit us in California (their 2nd time).
We kept a busy schedule, and had lots of fun. They arrived on Tuesday night. Wednesday we went to Joshua Tree National Park. Derek and Dad enjoyed climbing lots of big rocks!

The scenic outlook was VERY windy and cool.

Thursday we drove up to Big Bear to hike and enjoy the scenery. We hiked up to castle rock, where Dad and Derek did more climbing on rocks.

Friday we went to Sea World in San Diego. We were mesmerized by Shamu's "Believe" show

Friday night we stayed in the Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Bay, San Diego. We drove up to La Jollla on Saturday. The main activity in La Jolla was kayaking in the ocean. We saw sharks, seals, sea lions, a sea turtle, fish, and lots of sea birds. Everybody did a great job kayaking, and no one tipped over. Afterwards, we enjoyed spending some time around La Jolla cove. Derek was adventurous in the waters, getting quite close to wild seals.
The seals were resting on this rock, and we enjoyed watching them. They seemed nervous when we tried to get close.
This is a video I (Stephanie) took of the sea lions at sea world during feeding time. They were pretty crazy!

Sunday we enjoyed going to the River CRC together, and relaxed. I brought Mom, Dad and Derek back to the airport today. I hate saying goodbye....but we all had a great time, and we look forward to next time we can see eachother.

An Update of Cosmic Porportions

Ok, so it has been a preposterously long time since we last updated this thing. My main excuse is that, as we did not have our own house to live in, I couldn't update as I didn't want to put a bunch of pictures on my in-laws computer, but if I'm honest with myself, I was just being lazy. But here it is! Rejoice, masses, for the Andersons have returned to the internet! So the last time we updated, we had just returned from a nice vacation to Michigan for Tracie's wedding. While we were there, Stephanie applied for jobs, since the odds of me retaining my job at ACA were diminishing by the day (although to this day I have not received official notice of my termination, although it is clearly assumed). Well, she got it, and so two weeks after she got the job we were packed up and heading back to Michigan, for good. Working on the House

Just in case you were wondering what I've been doing with my time here these last few weeks, here's an update! First, when we moved into our house, one thing that was immediately apparent was that our Master Bedroom was about 10 or 15 degrees colder than the rest of the house at night. This made sleeping, and especially getting into bed rather uncomfortable. As I've mentioned, the Master Bedroom was an addition that the original builder built for his mother in law, so it is the only room in the house that does not have basement underneath. The problem was, I had no idea where the access to the crawlspace was. Then, one day, I was in the bathroom down stairs, doing what you do in a bathroom, and I noticed a funny looking panel on the wall that just didn't seem quite right for where it was. Stephanie is forcing me to update...

...so here I am. First off, we had our last Friday at Ski Club this week. Last Friday I took myself out fairly early going over a jump and landing squarely on my rump, making walking, standing, sitting, and just about any other form of existence you can think of fairly painful. Well, I could still feel it a little on Friday, and it was pure ice. So what do I do but go ahead and try the same jump...and do the same thing...and make the same posterior injury even more of a pain in the rear ( hahahaha ...I make myself laugh). So I benched myself at about 6 p.m. with another 4 hours of skiing to go. But some good did come of it. I was talking with Scott, one of the parents that was gracious enough to not only drive every week, but to take a truckload of hyperactive girls with him. Well, we naturally got onto the subject of how wonderful Ebay is, and he told me about how one time he just went through every category on Ebay .
