Now, The Moment You've All Been Waiting For!

Having decided to make a fashionably late entrance, the baby has finally decided to grace us with her presence!

Oh, but there has to be a little bit more anticipation than that!

On the 4th of July, Steph and I decided to take a somewhat risky (given her condition) trip to Muskegon, MI to visit the Johnson clan. It proved to be a beautiful trip.

While we waited for lunch at Grandma's, Stephanie and I went to the channel to enjoy the beautiful weather and watch all the boats.

Can you tell that Steph is eight days overdue?

Stephanie wanted a picture of me, so I took this self portrait. I think it captures my 'essence' quite well!
After a delicious lunch, and some baby talk with Jessie and Jeremiah (who had their baby June 20...congrats guys!!), everyone headed over to Diane and Dave's for some swimming in the lake!

Then, on Tuesday, I took a risky trip to Detroit to pick up some molding I won in an auction. Yep, left my wife, who was 10 days overdue, on a two hour (each way) road trip. The load proved to be slightly more...substantial...than I had anticipated.

But it was worth it. 5,400 ft. of crown, base, shoe, chair, panel, bolection, dental, egg and dart, and other moldings, all in either cherry or mahogany, for .14 a foot. That's right. 14 CENTS. You can't buy firewood that cheap. Now I just have to try to figure out how to make use of it all.

Then, Tuesday night, it was time for the main event. We got to the hospital in good spirits.

But after Steph's water broke at 4:00, the situation became somewhat less enjoyable.
And less enjoyable...

Then, at 2:22 p.m., Aundrea Elayne Anderson entered the world...and it was all worth it. She weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz., and was 20 in. long, and showed us quite quickly that she had an impressive set of vocal chords. She also proved that she had a bit of a temper (she gets that from her mother!) and endurance. She didn't sleep until 14 hours after she was born, and she spent that 14 hours demonstrating, with impressive clarity, her displeasure at being in this bright, loud world of strange temperatures, needles, and people doing to her things she had no interest in being done to her.

Stephanie, while imaginably sore, is in excellent spirits!

And it didn't take long before Aundrea was hobnobbing it with several prominent members of the community, on the local, national, and even international level!

We are home now, and everything is going grand! If you're in the area, feel free to stop by! Believe me, you're going to want to get 'in' with this one. With her massive hands (seriously...E.T. fingers here) and feet, as well as her illustrious birthday (shared with the famous composer Mahler as well as a somewhat famous drummer named Ringo Starr), she is undoubtedly either going to be a hugely successful musician, or play for the WMBA, where she will make tens of thousands, from which she will give her adoring parents a generous retirement gift.

She's perfect! A very good looking baby, which comes entirely from Steph I am sure. :)

Nate says it's an "n" not "m". It's WNBA. He told me to let you know, just in case. :)
