Joshua Tree

Image
Saturday we took Nathan and Tracie to Joshua Tree. We enjoyed the sunshine, the views, and climbing the rocks. Nathan showed Kevin the joys of bouldering with climbing shoes. Lizards are everywhere the plants aren't very friendly Keye's View Kevin wanted to be cave people, but Stephanie was shy about it Petroglyphs Keye's View provided numerous photo-ops The rocks here are also pretty unfriendly and hazardous This climb proved to be much harder than it looked, but Nathan gave a valiant effort.

Happy for us, Tracie made a short visit last weekend with some other people from Calvin. We spent a little time together Sunday and Monday. Sunday afternoon we went to Prospect Park, and Kevin took some pics. Redlands is very pretty this time of year.

Stephanie is forcing me to update...

...so here I am. First off, we had our last Friday at Ski Club this week. Last Friday I took myself out fairly early going over a jump and landing squarely on my rump, making walking, standing, sitting, and just about any other form of existence you can think of fairly painful. Well, I could still feel it a little on Friday, and it was pure ice. So what do I do but go ahead and try the same jump...and do the same thing...and make the same posterior injury even more of a pain in the rear ( hahahaha ...I make myself laugh). So I benched myself at about 6 p.m. with another 4 hours of skiing to go. But some good did come of it. I was talking with Scott, one of the parents that was gracious enough to not only drive every week, but to take a truckload of hyperactive girls with him. Well, we naturally got onto the subject of how wonderful Ebay is, and he told me about how one time he just went through every category on Ebay . He then told me about some of the crazy things he saw in the categ...

A Murder's Afoot!

Two posts in a row...yikes. Either Stephanie has gotten lazy or somehow I have inherited this blog. Saturday night we had a few people over for a How To Host A Murder dinner party. I will let the pictures do most of the talking as I don't feel like trying to explain it. Here's the group. Not shown very well is Becca Triemstra. She turned out to be the killer so I guess she was trying to lay low. I realize that no one else has a close up, but this picture of Heuker was just too good to pass up. Kevin (me): Ace WWI pilot...with some mental problems... Stephanie: The hussy. Toyed with the hearts of many, many men. Tisk tisk tisk. Becca Triemstra: The Gold-digger. Also the killer...looks guilty as sin to me. Nate Triemstra: The Loser. Dashing, charming, and a failure in all aspects of life. Sarah Day: The 'woman' pilot. Killed her husband for his money. Never trust a female behind the wheel... Greg Wo...: The sleazy businessman. Liz Lyon: failed murderer (she would have kil...

Coastal Trip

Image
So Saturday, Sunday and Monday Steph and I took a little road trip up the coast. It was a pretty fun trip, and I took loooots of pictures to share with you all. Aren't you excited? I can tell! The first stop on our trip was the legendary Hearst Castle. I always figured that the whole 'castle' bit was just an exaggeration for a really big mansion...but they really aren't kidding. It's an amazing place. Alright, so they took us around the outside first, so some pictures of the outside. Now before you look at these three pictures and say "That's it? Not much of a castle!", do not be alarmed. This is only the guest house he built for his grand kids. Pictures of the inside to come a little later. These photos are, of course, the outdoor pool. I say outdoor because there was naturally an indoor pool as well. According to the tour guide, at the time Mr. Hearst lived here, he owned all the land you can see in this picture (He called it his 'backyard')....
